Sass + Babe Website with Shopify Integration

Sass + Babe is a start-up entrepreneurial business that sells bed linen for children. The website has been built in phases to meet the growing needs of the business.

Katie from Sass + Babe needed to get online fast to meet a deadline for the 2017 Mumpreneur Awards in Australia, of which she was a finalist for the ‘Big Idea’.

The website had to be a professional point of contact and information resource for her newly designed product – the 3 in 1 waterproof fitted sheet. It also had to be a blogging tool, be able to integrate with her current Social Media and be able to take email sign ups for potential future customers.

Also important to Katie was a user-friendly content management system allowing her to easily manage her own content and reduce administrative costs.

The website design is clean and simple using black and white as the primary colours.

The second part of the website build was to add E-commerce and start taking pre-orders. To facilitate this on a tight budget we chose to integrate the Shopify Buy Button and Shopify Lite Plan with the existing WordPress website.

The reason we decided not to use our preferred WooCommerce, was solely due to budget constraints. Although WooCommerce itself is free, we considered the time and cost of the initial set-up and configuration, plus the ongoing maintenance fees to keep the site secure. Overall, integrating Shopify with WordPress was a relatively simple process.

Of course, using the Shopify Buy Button over all the features of WooCommerce has its constraints – including not being able to use Afterpay on the Shopify Lite Plan – you must upgrade to a full Shopify site to do this we found! Zip however does work, as well as all the other usual payment options like PayPal and credit card (if you are interested!). But overall the site functions well and does the job that it needs to do which is taking and receiving online orders.

The website has already been hugely successful in achieving the goals set out for it. Katie is currently taking new orders every day before the product has even been officially launched or advertised! Most importantly as the business continues to grow the website has the capability to grow and expand with it.
